Who wants a Ginger-made present??

I’m taking part in “Pay It Forward 2011”, an idea that I found on Andrea’s blog (who found it on Alessa’s blog, who found it on Oonaballoona’s… whew!).  The idea is to make and send a handmade gift to the first five people who comment on your blog post.  So guys, comment away!  The only catch is that if you sign up to receive a gift, ya gotta share the love and make a gift for the first five people to comment on your blog!  Sound fun?  Let’s do it!

In other news, my Lonsdale dress pattern arrived in the mail today– eek!  I can’t wait to make it!

In slightly less fun news, holy crap, I’ve been so busy and I’m d e s p e r a t e l y behind on the Summer Essentials Sew-Along.  I had two insane last weeks of work in June followed by two weeks out of the country, and now that I’ve started my new job, it’s been crazy hectic and I’ve been getting home from work super late.  I’ve got family visiting this weekend, too– really looking forward to it, but it means I’ll be putting projects off even longer.  Would it be really terrible if I didn’t finish everything I wanted to make?  At this point, it seems impossible that I’ll be able to make everything since I’ve only made one out of the five… oh, boy…  I guess I’ll see what I can get done before the end of the month!  Oh, and I still need to do my muslin for Gertie’s class…  Luckily, I’ve had a bit of help– Man Friend has been hard at work carefully tracing the pattern pieces for McCall’s 5995 onto fresh, new paper!  He’s the best!

What are you guys up to?  Who wants me to send them a present?  I’ve got some fun ideas and I’m really excited to make something cute!

  1. Ginger – thanks for playing! In my opinion, of course it is okay to not finish everything on your SESA list. It’s supposed to be fun, not stressful. Enjoy the visit with your family.
P.S. I can’t believe your man friend is tracing a pattern for you – you lucky gal!

    • I know, I’m so lucky! He’s got some time off from work right now, and he’s reallllly a clean, neat, detail-oriented person, so he’s actually perfect at it! I’m going to try to make two more items from my summer list, I think, and try not to feel bad for not finishing what I had planned. Sometimes life just gets very hectic all at once! 🙂

  2. Hi Ginger! I will play with you, if it’s kosher! I’m playing with Andrea and I’ve already posted on my blog about it (as of about 5 minutes ago!). Not sure how it works to play twice . . .

Your purchases from Europe are lovely, but I especially love the paisley. Man Friend is one lucky dude!

  3. Just commenting to say don’t feel bad about the summer essentials– I’m really behind on mine, too! Hoping to finish #2 this week, but of course it’s taking longer than anticipated, and I’ve had a couple of things pop up that I’ll need to make that have August deadlines. So I’m now mentally aiming now for 4.

The pay-it-forward is a good idea, but I’m going to leave it to others since I’m swamped with things to make already! And it wouldn’t be fair to everyone else playing to have to wait. Have fun with it, though!

    • Thanks for saying that– there’s always so many things to do and so little time! Plus, I don’t know about you, but I tend to get really excited about things and bite off more than I can chew! But I look forward to seeing what you make!
