Oh, boy, party dudes, I have some good news for you! I was contacted by a casting producer from Love Productions who asked me to help spread the word about an opportunity to be in the pilot of a U.S. version of the super-popular Great British Sewing Bee! I’ve been pretty jealous that all you U.K. residents are able to watch season 2 right now, so it’s fun to think that there may be a U.S. version soon!
Some details: As of right now, they are casting for the pilot (a premiere, test episode) and are looking for people in the NY/NJ/CT area. The competition is for amateur stitchers, so Vera Wang, sorry, girl, this ain’t for you! That’s really all I know, but check out the flyer for more info! There’s nothing I’d love more than to watch this show and to see some familiar internet faces in the crowd!
Ohh this sounds awesome

Wouldn’t it be fun? This will sound dorky, but I love sewing so much and would love to see more people get interested in it through a show!

I hope that the atmosphere is the same on the us version – nothing wrong with competition but at the end of the day we’re all friends, right? Tempted to apply, but there’s a reason I work behind the scenes in entertainment and not in front of the audience!

I hear that! People always assume because I work in film that I want to be an actress- no, thank you!

What a bummer that it is only for tri state area participants! We have a whole huge country of people who love to sew! Keep us posted on developments!

I read on another blog this morning that the plan is to open up casting across the country if the show gets picked up. They just needed to keep it local to the NYC area for the pilot as there’s a low budget for those, usually. Hopefully it will get picked up, will air, and will be a big hit! I’m really excited to watch a sewing show!

That would be awesome! I am probably out of the running as a participant though Any idea what their guidelines are for determining who is a “professional”?
